Youngsters from Whitfield and Aspen Community Primary School sent a message to the future by burying a time capsule in the grounds of our new pub The Kittiwake in the heart of Whitfield.
Newspapers, letters, drawings, and photographs were all included in the pupil’s time capsule.
The Kittiwake offers a traditional pub menu in a family friendly atmosphere.
Andrew Lamb, head teacher at Whitfield and Aspen Community Primary School, said: “This was such a great idea. This really challenged the children to think about history by leaving items in the time capsule to be discovered in the future.”
A plaque will also be put up at the Kittiwake with the date of when the capsule was buried.
Nick Roberts, manager at the Kittiwake, said: “The time capsule is not only a fascinating project for youngsters to take part in, but it’s also quite symbolic for us too – we’re at the exciting beginning of something new with the Kittiwake which will be around for generations of families to enjoy.”
