Youngsters bury Time Capsule at new Marston’s Pub in Derby

Six youngsters from St. John Fisher Primary School sent a message to the future on 2nd November by burying a time capsule in the grounds of the new pub & restaurant The Blue Jay, in Derby.

Manager of the Blue Jay, Giuseppe Dimiceli also welcomed the Deputy Mayor, Mr Frank Leeming and Deputy Mayoress, Mrs Shirley Leeming and assisted the children with the time capsule burial to celebrate the opening of the pub.

With Rammie, Derby County Football Club’s mascot also on hand to help with the time capsule burial, this certainly was a great occasion, which brought together the local community in the heart of Derby.

The pupils from St John Fisher RC Primary School were Mwaba Mumba, Orla Lobb, Charlie Knight, Sam McGauran, Lucas Mosley Rhule and Jeremiah Njagu and are all in year four. Inside the capsule they placed pictures of their school,the school tie, rosary beads and a biography written by pupil Orla Lobb.

Manager of the Marstons pub, Giuseppe Dimiceli said: : “We’re proud to say that the pub is open for business, we’d love locals to come down and have a drink and something to eat with us to celebrate. We offer a range of drinks and fresh, quality family-focused pub food.”

A plaque has also been put up in the Blue Jay with the date of when the capsule was buried.
